So far, we've traveled down Heroes Avenue to the park by
the pier. if you look to your right, you'll see the Governor's Mansion
(coming soon) which houses many of the state offices.

If you look to your left, you'll see the clock tower and memorial plaza
Now, on to the pier.....looking You'll have a
clear view of Chetumal's southern waterfront towards the river.....
and here's to the right......

The Midnight Gambler is currently sitting at the end of
the pier. From what I've been told, it's soon to be picking up tourists
and heading to Belizean waters for gambling. Rumor has it that Yacuna Bay
on Consejo Road might also be a pick up point in the near future.

Walking along Bahia Boulevard towards the Rio Hondo
there is a nautical club, a small marina....

...a larger resort marina under construction,

and what appears to be a new hotel........

My favorite place on this part of the journey is the statue of
Hurricane Janet.

It's hard to convey the immense size of this memorial.. Notice the
building in the background...that's the resort marina shown above. On the
left, the house depicted in the storm is called
The Flying House.

Janet at sunrise. The 3 story hotel under construction
that is pictured above is in the background on the right.
This restaurant and bar is on the water right across the
street from the Hurricane Janet memorial. it's the perfect place to take a
break and enjoy the bay view of Chetumal and Belize.

more to follow.......
