Consejo is a fishing village located 8 miles
northeast of Corozal Town and about 2 miles south of Chetumal, Q.R., Mexico.
It once was the highway customs stop between Belize and Chetumal and
therefore, "the end of the road", since
the final portion of this journey would have to be across the water. I want to
include a more detailed account of Consejo's history and welcome any
information. Email me at
consejohistory@shrinkinfeet.com.
If you live in or around Consejo village and would like to
be added to the tour, email me at
consejotour@shrinkinfeet.com.
Below is a very brief tour of the Consejo
area. More to follow.....

New Millenium Family Restaurant |

The New Millenium Restaurant is located on the left side of Consejo road just before the park. |

The restaurant is bright and airy..these scanned images hardly do it justice. |

Derrick's Cozy Corner |
|
Derrick is a great host who pours up a magnificently mean rum and coke. The club is now painted yellow and is located on the right side along the far road just after the park. |

Casablanca Beach Side |
|
Casablanca is a "must stop" for stunning views of Chetumal bay and the city. It's also a wonderful place to relax for a while and get to know Consejo village a bit better. A link to their site is on my Friendly Links page.

Casablanca At Twilight |
|
The palapa at the end of the pier has bench style seating around the entire perimeter, so it's easy to stretch out and enjoy the surroundings. |

Consejo Customs House |
|
The customs house is, quite literally, that. This customs house is primarily used for travel by water to and from Chetumal. At present, I believe that it can only be utilized by citizens and residents, but perhaps this will/has changed. |

Harry's House |
|
This concrete bugalow was built by Harry Duesbury. Harry and Abda recently sold and reside full time in San Andres. I look forward to getting to know the new neighbors. |

Preparing The Conch |
|
The conch needed tenderizing before frying and no Coke bottle was available. Harry improvised with an all-purpose tool that did the trick. |

Smuggler's Den Restaurant |
|
This resort is located about a mile north of Consejo Village. It's tri-level interior is cool and spacious. I haven't the opportunity to dine here as yet, but I can vouch that the staff is friendly and the Belikin is ice cold. |

Smugglers has a good little beach nestled alongside the resort. Better pictures can be found at their website. A link to it is on my Friendly Links page. |

Nick's Buddies |

Nick has a property within Art Higgins development just south of Smuggler's Den Resort. These are his pets. The coatimundi took a fancy to the wheel well. |
