In Praise
of Little Feet
Hey there, sweet people, who define your success
With big houses, new cars, and
designer-style dress
You can't even imagine why I pay you no heed
Nor attempt to endeavor along the path you
proceed
Understand it's not personal, in fact, it's
global, truth be said
That your feet are entirely too big for your
head!
See, you are but one person out of over 6 bil'
Yet your choices tread harshly as you consume at
your will,
I know that's not your intention, you've just
simply bought in
To the idea that, "The one with the most items
will win!"
Don't believe this one minute! It's a marketing
ploy
That's been blatantly broadcast to each girl and
each boy.
Bigger's not better nor does "more" convey
"good"
(That's a cultural myth enforced by Ol'
Hollywood.)
I'm as guilty as you and am trying to change
To make my footprint a size in the tiny feet
range
For I came to an impasse that has forced me to
see
That Earth can't support a whole population of
me.
Most I've taken won't re-grow nor will it
sustain,
Thus, my children will suffer and this causes
great pain.
Yet I still I have the power to make choices
each day
To lighten my steps and make room on the way
For many others to join on a path of good
health,
It's time for Peace and World Justice;
The real signs of true wealth!
