Welcome!Almost three years have passed since I’ve updated this website, which directly corresponds with the beginning of our house construction and move to Consejo, Belize. Although my intentions were good, life in Belize runs at a different pace and style. I have now finally gotten the website updated so it remains current while we keep on constructing and living in a small fishing village just south of Chetumal, Mexico in northern part of Corozal District, Belize. Those of you visiting for the first time can view my cheesy archived pages here for a background of the meaning of ShrinkinFeet, our reasons for retiring in Belize, and the preliminary concrete construction of our octagon house here in Consejo. |

House Update
We drove from the US through Mexico to Belize at the end of January 2006 with an overloaded pickup and a 28 foot pontoon boat in tow. Our house in Belize was just a concrete shell we had built by a Corozal contractor. We slept in our truck camper shell at night and went about completing the construction as planned. We expected to complete 90% within a year. Wow, did we underestimate -lol! Things have progressed slowly, but steadily. We have learned much about life here and building in Belize. Click here to follow our progress. |

New! Consejo Village Library
Consejo Village Library is a collaborative effort begun over two years ago as little more than an idea to provide books, computers, and Internet services locally to our community. The Consejo Village council provided a building space and financial backing and many generous individuals assisted with computers and books. The library is 100% community based and run on a shoestring budget. It receives no Belizean government or NGO support (but we’d greatly appreciate and welcome it! …hint..hint..) Consejo Village Library officially opened its doors November 8th. Learn more about the Consejo Village Library Project here. |
More Information On Consejo Village, Belize
Consejo Village, Belize is located 7 miles northeast of Corozal Town, Belize on a point of land where Bahia Chetumal meets Corozal Bay. Our current population is 103 when the Prime Minister is visiting. Consejo Shores development is just outside of the village to the southwest. Mayan Seaside, Wagner’s Landing, and Smuggler’s Den resort are just a bit to the northwest. Two of the developments have vacation rentals and Smuggler’s Den is a small, but very charming vacation resort with daily and weekly rentals. Consejo is a wonderful place to start off your Belize vacation or to wind down before returning home. Learn more about Consejo village, local businesses and our Belize accommodations here. |
